Contract Towage

We can offer versatile towage solutions for our clients, whether it be barge movements to fish pen towage we deliver an efficient, safe, P&I club Insured, cost-effective towage solution.

Salvage/Emergency Towage

We can provide a range of salvage & emergency towage services, from the salvage and removal of vessels and marine debris through to emergency towage of incapacitated vessels.

Dredging/Bed Levelling

TMST can conduct dredging and bed levelling operations utilising agitation dredging and levelling utilising common industry methods, but also possessing the ability to offer hydrodynamic dredging as an alternative to clients.

Mooring & Anchoring

We can offer commercial & recreational clients with mooring & anchoring solutions, whether it may be design, construction, installation or maintenance, we cater for the clients needs and budget.

Dive & ROV Support

Our vessel has a proven track record in fulfilling the role of a dive support vessel. The clear deck space allows for the carriage of specialist diving equipment safely and securely whilst offering a stable platform to conduct diving operations. We can launch and recover small work & inspection class ROV's and provide clear deck space for an engineering workshop and ROV shack.

Dredge Support

TMST can conduct support operations for dredging campaigns. We have the capabilities to undertake bed levelling/sweeping, shallow water anchor handling, dredge positioning & towage, floating hose handling & maintenance, and bulk bunkering options during dredging operations.

Total Marine Solutions Tasmania (TMST ) is a locally owned, Northern Tasmania-based marine services provider that was established in 2018. TMST identified a gap within the Northern Tasmanian market for a business to offer a purposely designed vessel to conduct towage, salvage, dredging, and general workboat duties. Solutions. TMST acquired our primary vessel, 'Beattie', in 2017, a purpose-built shallow draft, compact, high bollard pull tug capable of offering a versatile platform for a vast array of marine operations. Since conception, TMST has provided solutions for Clients undertaking historical, high-value project within Tasmania. TMST is proud to offer local content, high specification vessels, and provide local professionals that together bolster the core fundamentals of Total Marine Solutions Tasmania.

TMST company directors work within the Australian maritime industry and have 30+ years combined experience within the industry. This team has a unique combination of skills, knowledge, qualifications, and experience working with some of the largest local and international maritime service providers on world-class Australian projects. This diverse exposure allows TMST to extract the best efficiency from our operation whilst providing the Tasmanian-based market with unmatched professionalism, vast industry knowledge, and high-level compliance.

Flat Top Barge Contract Towage

Grange Resources

TMST conducted towage from Port Latta to Devonport of the 'GR4500' barge to facilitate a 5-yearly renewal survey and refit. TMST provided a tailored in-house solution to capture the project requirements, conducting fully compliant towage of the unit pre- & post-refit.

Flat Top Barge Towage

Hazell/Brady JV - Stage 1 T3 Development

TMST undertook the towage of the 'Second Wind" shuttle barge to supply steel piles from a temporary load-out facility within the Mersey River (Devonport) to the Brady Marine construction barge 'Rebecca Lily'. TMST conducted numerous movements safely and efficiently within a high-traffic, dynamic port, providing an unmatched towage solution for the JV.

Bed Levelling

Hazell/Brady JV - Stage 1 T3 Development

TMST undertook bed levelling operations within the Terminal 3 (T3) construction zone in the Mersey River (Devonport) to remove migrated sediments from the berth pocket and wharf face to allow insulation of scouring protection. TMST, utilising 'Beattie' and bed levelling equipment, were able to efficiently remove sediments to the required design level offering a cost effective solution for the JV.

Salvage

Total Dive Solutions (TDS)

TMST was engaged to assist in the salvage and subsequent towage of the beached racing yacht 'Huntress' on Cape Barren Island after a series of unfortunate events. TMST, working alongside principal contractor TDS, was able to remove the vessel from a highly sensitive environment with minimum impact and conduct the towage of the salvaged vessel to a safe port for handover to the underwriter in an undamaged state.

Construction Barge Contract Towage & Anchor handling Operations

Hazell Bros - Berth 4 West Fender Replacment

TMST was contracted to provide towage, construction support, anchor handling & barge management for the fender replacement piling scope. TMST worked closely with the principal contractor to meet the demands and complex operational requirements to deliver a desired outcome operating within the confines of the bustling Port of Devonport.

Dive Support - Salvage Support

Total Dive Solutions (TDS)

TMST was proud to work alongside TDS as a 3rd party contractor to assist in the raising of an ex-fishing vessel within the Tamar River that had suffered a major downflooding event. TMST, with their vessel 'Beattie', were able to provide a sound platform for the salvage & diving operations to allow TDS to conduct the operation in an efficient, safe, and productive manner.

Mooring Design, Construction & Installation

Hazell Bros

TMST was contracted to design, construct, and assist in installing an approved mooring system within the Tamar River to facilitate the mooring of the Hazell Bros flat-top barge 'Second Wind'. TMST worked closely with the state regulator, the naval architect, and the client to provide a long-term mooring solution for the 32-meter barge.

Harry O'May Resecuring Works

ADEC Kedge Marine Surveyors

The derelict Ro-Ro Harry O'May suffered a partial failure of the vessel's mooring system, allowing interaction with the foundered derelict tug 'Cape Bruny'. TMST was engaged to undertake an initial survey and report back to the client with a plan for rescuing the vessel. TMST opted to install a shore-based ground anchor system as a solution for replacing the existing compromised timber piles, providing a long-term mooring Solution.

Dive Support, Log and Pile Removal

Total Dive Solutions (TDS) - Emu River Rail Bridge

TMST was contracted to provide labor, workboat provisions, and a log-grab enabled excavator as per the client's requirements. TMST was proud to assist TDS on a project that provided long-term reliability to the state's crucial rail network infrastructure.

General Towage

Hazell Bros - Devonport Berth 3 East Link Span Decommissioning

TMST was engaged to assist in the decommissioning of the Berth 3 Link Span as part of the first Stage of the T3 development in Devonport. TMST was able to work with the client to assist in supporting a complex operation involving both shore-side and waterborne assets for safely dismantling the Link Span from the supporting flotation chamber. TMST also provided contract towage of the unit to the Tamar River for long-term storage.

Workboat Hire

TMST has two flat-bottom work punts that are able to conduct various scopes of work. TMST can provide dry or wet hire options for clients to suit their specific needs. Previous clients have utilised the vessel/s for Dive Support, Navigational Aid Maintenance, Construction Support, Tailings Dam Maintenance, and Salvage Support.

Line Splicing

Various Clients

TMST can provide a splicing service for all types of commonly found lines in the maritime industry. TMST has provided clients with mooring lines, pennant lines, tow lines, and mooring hawsers in both multi plat Polypropylene and 'Dynnema' type construction, all spliced as per manufacturers' recommendations.
